We invite you to the next biologWe invite you to the next biological evening, organized by the University of Primorska as part of the project Kras4us, entitled:
Pollinators on burned areas of the Karst (Kevin Rečnik)
Wednesday, March 18th at 19:00, here: ZOOM link
About the lecture:
Pollinators are one of the main groups of organisms, important for preserving biodiversity and providing ecosystem services that are crucial to humans. Recent global trends show that pollinator species are disappearing, and with them the ecosystem services they provide. It is therefore very important to conduct research on the status of populations so that we can take the most appropriate measures to protect them. In this lecture, we will touch on their diversity in the Karst region and try to answer the question of how fires, which have become increasingly frequent in recent times, affect the diversity of pollinators and their functional role in the ecosystem.
About the lecturer:
Kevin Rečnik studied biology and holds a master's degree in ecology and biodiversity. He completed his studies at the Faculty of Biotechnology in Ljubljana. Since February 2024, he has been employed at the Department of Biodiversity at UP Famnit as an assistant and researcher. He participates in the promotion of the department and in projects such as the Interreg projects E-Nat2Care and Kras4Us, where he carries out field and administrative activities. In addition, he also participates in other activities of the department, such as organizing events and field work (monitoring ticks and mosquitoes and researching the european tree frog population in the Škocjanski Zatok Nature Reserve). In his free time, he devotes himself to various hobbies, including astronomy.
