The Alpina-Mediterranean Cycle Route, which is being defined within the Inter Bike III project, was successfully presented at the Green Karst 2025 Local Providers Exchange in Ilirska Bistrica on 27 March 2025. The all-day event is aimed at bringing together tourism providers from the Primorsko-Notranjska region and neighbouring Slovenian and Croatian regions. Producers, caterers, accommodation providers, craftsmen and other tourism stakeholders present themselves at the stands, while at the same time they can attend lectures by experts and make deals during networking events. The main theme of this year's fair was successful market entry, which was discussed by Prof. Ljubica Knežević Cvelbar, PhD, from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana. Visitors could also attend educational workshops. One of them was dedicated to the new tourist product Alpina-Mediterranean Cycle Route, which is being developed within the framework of the cross-border project Inter Bike III. It was presented by Boštjan Primc from the Municipality of Ilirska Bistrica and tourism expert Jan Klavora from the Sustainable Tourism Factory Institute. The Alpina-Mediterranean cycle route links Friuli Venezia Giulia (Venzone, Cividale del Friuli) with western Slovenia and Kvarner (Opatija), divided into 50-kilometre daily stages with up to 500 metres of elevation gain. A website is being developed from which it will be possible to download the route and to obtain information on the facilities available along the route.
