On June 24th, the awareness-raising event “A more sustainable value chain economy for the dairy sector” took place in Kobarid, as part of the DAIRY+ project.
The event, organised by the project partner Fondazione Agrifood & Bioeconomy FVG with the support of the Posoški razvojni center (PRC), brought together representatives from the dairy value chain in Friuli Venezia Giulia – including veterinarians, institutional representatives, and dairies – for a day of dialogue, learning, and inspiration.
The morning opened with a presentation by the Director of the Planika Dairy, who illustrated the company’s approach to sustainability and the enhancement of the local territory, followed by a product tasting. The strong interest from Italian participants generated a lively exchange full of questions and ideas.
Afterwards, the DAIRY+ project was presented, including the opportunities offered to stakeholders, such as upcoming workshops. A pilot plant for whey concentration, purchased by the University of Udine as part of the project, was also introduced.
During the day, participants visited the Planika Museum, the production facility, and, after lunch, based on local products, the Kašina alpine dairy. There, they met a local producer, visited the production spaces, tasted artisanal cheeses, and enjoyed a moment of traditional accordion music.
This initiative represented an important opportunity for awareness-raising and networking, aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation and promoting a sustainable transition of the dairy sector.
