The search for juveniles of πππππ πππππππ continues in the Northern Adriatic thanks to the coordinated efforts of TRECap partners. In the Gulf of Trieste, Shoreline divers recovered the last larval collectors placed in the Miramare Marine Protected Area.
After careful analysis of their contents, unfortunately, our colleagues did not find any juvenile pinnid. However, we received excellent news from our partners in Veneto.
In the past few weeks, researchers from CNR-ISMAR in Venice have continued to collect the larval collectors installed in the summer at the Acqua Alta Oceanographic Platform off the coast of Venice and at the Caorle tegnΓΉe, with the valuable support of the Venice State Police Diving Unit, the Municipality of Caorle and the Caorle Diving Group. Unlike last year and the results in the Gulf of Trieste, the research has provided encouraging results.
Specifically, eight juvenile pinnidi specimens were collected at the Platform site, most likely belonging to the species πππππ πππππππ , six of which were found alive. At this stage, πππππ πππππππ and πππππ ππ’πππ are very similar and further tests are needed to identify the species.
The analysis will also extend to other organisms present on the collectors, in order to clarify the dynamics of colonisation and interspecific interactions. Thanks to the efforts of the CNR-ISMAR team in Venice, the TRECap project concludes on a hopeful note for the survival of πππππ πππππππ in the Northern Adriatic.
We would like to thank our partners for their excellent work and hope to collaborate again in the protection of trezze and species threatened by climate change, such as πππππ πππππππ .
