The kick-off meeting of the LOGICA project, funded under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 programme, was recently held in Tolmezzo at the headquarters of the Mountain Community of Carnia. The two-year project is coordinated by the Mountain Community of Carnia and involves five partners: the Slovenian regional development agencies Idrijsko-Cerkljanska and RRA Zeleni kras, the municipalities of Ilirska Bistrica and Tolmezzo, and the Mountain Community of Natisone and Torre. The Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia also participates in the project as associated partner.
LOGICA (Local Operative Guidelines to Implement Climate Adaptation) aims to develop concrete, specific and easily replicable solutions for climate adaptation that take into account the considerable territorial variability that characterises the area involved, and pay particular attention to local planning in small, marginal communities. Among the main expected results of the project are the creation of a shared database of local climate data, an in-depth analysis of climate risks and vulnerabilities in the territories involved, and the definition of operational guidelines for adaptation, complemented by concrete, locally identified measures that will be implemented through pilot actions in the municipalities of Ilirska Bistrica and Tolmezzo.
The ultimate goal of these tools is to provide meaningful support to local and regional authorities, contributing to more informed decision-making that takes into account risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities that the climate of the coming years will bring. The project stems from an important paradigm shift in addressing climate challenges, moving from an approach focused on emergency response to a proactive strategy based on prevention. One of LOGICA’s main objectives is to foster dialogue between different levels of governance and to strengthen cross-border cooperation, promoting an integrated and sustainable approach capable of overcoming the challenges arising from differing legal frameworks and organisational structures.
During the first meeting, the partners had the opportunity to meet in person and start collaborating on the initial operational steps. The first activities will focus on analysing the current situation: collecting and sharing local climate data from each area, studying existing best practices in climate adaptation, and assessing climate-related risks in the participating territories.
Launched in October 2025, the LOGICA project will conclude on 30 September 2027.
