The Municipality of San Dorligo della Valle / Občina Dolina, as the managing body of the Val Rosandra Nature Reserve, has completed a major project to renovate, improve and expand the entire signage system in the protected area.
The project involved the installation of new “territorial signs” – including tables and notice boards – located at strategic points throughout the territory, with the aim of improving communication with the public and making the area clearer, safer and more accessible. The new system consists of three types of installations:
- “You are entering the Reserve” signs, located at points where hiking trails intersect the boundary of the protected area, accompanied by a map and rules of conduct;
- Panels dedicated to “Special Places in the Reserve”, highlighting the four sites identified for their cultural significance;
- Entrance gates to the Reserve, installed at the main access points to increase visibility and identification of the area.
With this initiative, the Municipality wanted to strengthen the identity of the Reserve, offering visitors a useful tool to find their way around and learn more about the area, while promoting a respectful and aware approach to the natural environment.

The project was carried out as part of the European ENGREEN2 project, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme, with the aim of improving the management of cross-border green areas and promoting biodiversity protection through concrete actions in the area.
This is a result of which the Administration is particularly proud, testifying to its ongoing commitment to the protection and enhancement of this precious natural heritage.
