After being postponed due to bad weather on 18 May, the fifth stage of the VEGAL programme “POSEIDONE – Biodiversity and Territories on Stage” took place on Sunday 1 June, dedicated to the active discovery of the Bosco delle Lame, one of the most significant ecosystems in the reclaimed plains of eastern Veneto.
The event was well attended, with over 20 people, including adults, families with children and even some four-legged friends. The summer weather finally made it possible to immerse oneself in the nature of the forest, among paths shaded by maple, ash, alder and poplar trees, the song of pheasants, sightings of squirrels and buzzing swarms of mosquitoes, the inevitable inhabitants of these wetlands rich in biodiversity.
During the tour, participants were guided in a sensory reading of the landscape (forest bathing) and involved in a creative workshop to make seed bombs with essences that are friendly to bees and pollinators.
‘These experiences allow us to create emotional bonds with environments that are often forgotten,’ emphasised Cinzia Gozzo, project manager at Vegal. ‘Working with clay with our hands, observing without disturbing, walking in silence among trees and clearings: this is how we can educate people to respect ecosystems, without invading them, but feeling part of their balance.’
The Bosco delle Lame, with its 33 hectares, is one of the most successful examples of forest recolonisation and ecological restoration of agricultural land in the eastern Venice area.
The POSEIDONE project thus continues to weave together knowledge, experience and care for the landscapes of the future.
