A PRESS TOUR TO PROMOTE THE CYCLING ROUTE “GIRALEMENE” WITHIN THE EUROPEAN PROJECT “ADRIONCYCLETOUR”
As part of the ADRIONCYCLETOUR project, at the end of May, VeGAL, the Eastern Veneto Development Agency, partner of the strategically important project funded by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Territorial Cooperation Programme, organised a one-day press tour to introduce a small group of journalists to the GiraLemene cycling route.
GiraLemene is a cycling and walking route of historical and natural interest along the Lemene river axis, connecting and traversing four municipalities in the province of Venice: Gruaro, Portogruaro, Concordia Sagittaria and Caorle. Along the 38-kilometre route, from the sea to the hinterland, GiraLemene evokes the literary suggestions of the places crossed by Nievo, Pasolini, Russolo and Hemingway. The press tour focused mainly on the final section of the route and particularly on the Caorle lagoon.
The bike tour started from the town of Caorle towards the port of Falconera and the Casoni area, typical wooden and reed houses where fishermen once lived. Here, journalists had the opportunity to visit a casone that still preserves its traditional furnishings. Using the X-Lagoon ferry, a “boat + bike” service connecting Caorle and Bibione, participants were able to admire the Caorle lagoon, reaching the Vallevecchia nature reserve. After cycling along some of the trails in this ecologically rich natural reserve, the journalists experienced a lunch in a typical casone with a menu based on lagoon fish. After the break, the afternoon bike ride continued toward Sindacale, through the Bosco delle Lame with its avifaunal wetland in the Concordia Sagittaria area, the fishermen's cavane of Maranghetto, and finally the rural architectural complex of San Gaetano. The tour concluded back in Caorle.
The press tour was attended by Patrizio Nissirio, writer and journalist for ANSA, since 2011 responsible for the ANSAmed multilingual service for the Mediterranean, Scilla Nascimbene, contributor to the travel magazine “Itinerari e Luoghi,” and Silvia Romano, author of GreeMe, an online magazine on green and sustainable topics. The journalists were accompanied by a tourist and environmental guide who described the unique historical, natural, and environmental features of these areas.
