On Friday, February 21, 2025, a public presentation of the mapping activity for mitigation measures to reduce the impact of fires, floods, and hailstorms was held by ISIG at the Infopoint in Sistiana. This activity is part of the KARST ADAPT project. It was an important opportunity to share the research results and present the database, a crucial tool to support local authorities, civil protection organizations, and other stakeholders in managing the Karst region.
The event, organized within the framework of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Program, saw the participation of project partners, municipalities, and organizations involved in prevention and rescue operations, confirming the importance of cross-border collaboration to increase the Karst's resilience to climate change.
This initiative is part of a broader process, made possible by the synergy between KARST-ADAPT and KARST-SAFE, with the aim of strengthening the resilience of the Karst through a shared approach between Italy and Slovenia.
KARST-SAFE presented the Action Plan and Risk Analysis, outlining strategies and priorities for the safety of the area.
Subsequently, prevention and risk management measures, such as water basins and preventive fires, were presented as essential operational tools for protecting the Karst area.
The meeting represented an important opportunity for discussion between local authorities, civil protection organizations, and project partners, demonstrating how cross-border cooperation is essential to tackle the environmental challenges of the Karst.
Thanks to KARST ADAPT and KARST-SAFE, we are building a system of shared knowledge and innovative solutions to prevent and manage environmental emergencies in a particularly vulnerable area.
