The joint event of the AGROTUR+ and IRRIGAVIT projects was very productive. In the first part, more than 30 producers, agricultural advisors, experts, and students of viticulture and winemaking participated in a workshop led by Prof. Paolo Sivilotti from the DI4A University in Udine, where they could learn about the importance of the water potential of the grapevine. This is crucial for understanding the water status of plants and managing water in vineyards, thereby achieving the desired quality of grapes and wine.
Subsequently, in the experimental vineyard of the IRRIGAVIT project in Ċ marje, we presented various irrigation methods as examples of good water management practices. Participants also learned more about an advanced method of monitoring and determining the water status of the vineyard using hyperspectral imaging with a drone, and about the decision support system being developed by researchers at the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.
