The wineries of Eastern Venice met on 28 April 2025 in the tasting room of Tenuta Polvaro Winery to continue the discussion that began during the first working meeting in early April. The aim is to build, with the involvement of other local players in the wine sector, an integrated approach to promoting the area - with all its environmental, landscape and traditional characteristics - through food and wine and cultural tourism, including the revitalisation of the activities of the Wine Route. The meeting, entitled “Experiences and stories to tell, lives and flavours to experience”, opened with a presentation of recent results and trends in wine tourism to prepare the ground for a discussion aimed at jointly creating a “Wine Traveller's Diary” along the Wine Route, featuring experiences, activities and special features to be presented to guests. Four main themed itineraries emerged from the discussion:
- “The Wine Cities and Rural Civilisation” – A circular route connecting the four Wine Cities of San Stino di Livenza, Portogruaro, Pramaggiore and Annone Veneto; the circuit can also be taken from Caorle along waterways (GiraLivenza). This is a comprehensive tour of the classic Lison area and its anthropic landscape, along which you can also visit the Ethnographic Museum of the Belfiore Mill and the Landscape Museum of Torre di Mosto in Boccafossa.
- “Capitani d'Impresa e la Città Ideale” (Captains of Industry and the Ideal City) – A link between two examples of cities designed on a human scale, taking into account the productive, housing, social and economic needs of the local population: Alvisopoli, founded by the Venetian nobleman Alvise Mocenigo, and Villanova-Santa Margherita, built by Gaetano Marzotto. A journey steeped in local history, land reclamation and “social” entrepreneurs, starting from Portogruaro and passing through Alvisopoli and its woods, reaching San Michele al Tagliamento with its Villa Biaggini-Mocenigo-Ivancich and then returning to Villanova.
- “Terre di Acque raccontate da Hemingway” (Lands of Water as told by Hemingway) – From Caorle to the hinterland of Portogruaro, travelling through the land of caranto, a stratification of silty-sandy clay (with the addition of a little calcium carbonate), which represents the terroir of Eastern Venetian wine. The Lemene and Livenza rivers, the agricultural landscape of the land reclamation and the water pumps, the lowland woods, the valleys and the fishermen's huts characterise this itinerary in the pages of ‘Di là dal fiume e tra gli alberi’ (Beyond the river and among the trees).
- “The Archaeology of Wine” – Between Portogruaro and Altino, discover the Altino Archaeological Park, the National Archaeological Museum of Caorle, the Archaeological Area - Civic Museum of Concordia Sagittaria and the National Archaeological Museum of Portogruaro. Choose between a westward or northward route, with stops at local wineries.
All interested local actors will be involved in a widespread event, such as “La Giornata del Lison” (Lison Day), which will bring together these experiences of local storytelling within a coordinated programme of tastings and wine tourism experiences.
