May was a particularly active month for the ALL‑MICRO project, marked by four Open Days for industry across partner institutions and the project consortium meeting held on May 25th 2026.
The series of Open Days provided companies, industries, hospitals, and medical centres with direct access to advanced microscopy infrastructures and expertise within the ALL‑MICRO network. At the University of Nova Gorica (UNG), the Open Day on May 12th focused on hands‑on demonstrations of a wide range of microscopy techniques, including SEM, TEM, EDX, Raman microscopy and AFM. Participants had the opportunity to test their own samples and discuss potential applications with experts, highlighting the practical relevance of the technologies offered.
On May 21st, the Nanocenter hosted its Open Day with an afternoon session dedicated to showcasing cutting‑edge facilities such as Focus Ion Beam, advanced quantum device laboratories, and STM microscopy. Participants engaged directly with researchers and explored how advanced microscopy can support innovation in fields ranging from environmental monitoring to photonics and advanced manufacturing.
The series concluded on May 27th at the University of Trieste (UniTs), where strong industry interest enabled a highly interactive format, including parallel group activities and hands‑on sample analysis. Approximately half of the participants brought their own samples for testing, and the event led to immediate follow‑up requests for analyses from several companies, underlining its concrete impact.
Unfortunately, the Open Day offered on May 6th at CNR-IOM had no registration. We suspect that the event had been planned to soon after its announcement. In future we will make sure to advertise events well ahead.
The outcomes of the Open Days were further discussed during the ALL‑MICRO project meeting held on May 25th. Partners reported overall positive feedback from participants, while also identifying the need for earlier promotion to maximise participation in future editions. The consortium agreed to establish the Open Day as a recurring annual initiative across the network.
In addition to dissemination activities, the meeting addressed progress on pilot project reporting and ongoing discussions on the Memorandum of Understanding, including aspects related to intellectual property and future collaboration within the network beyond the project duration.
Overall, May demonstrated the strong potential of ALL‑MICRO to connect research infrastructures with industry needs, fostering collaboration and paving the way for long‑term partnerships.
