On 23 September, European Cooperation Day, celebrations were held at the Kosovelov Dom in Sežana, organised by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme. The day, enriched by a rich programme, was attended by a large number of people, with many families and children, despite the fact that the weather forecast was not very favourable. Four buses from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Slovenia arrived in Sežana.
After the welcome greetings and introduction to the activities, visitors during the morning were able to choose between cross-border walks and bicycle rides on the Karst, while two enchanting workshops were organised for children, one creative on the Karst theme and one on the theme of mussel farming and the connection with the Karst. In parallel, the strategic projects of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme 2021-2027 were also presented by the KRAS-CARSO II, ADRIONCYCLETOUR and POSEIDONE projects. The festive atmosphere was sealed by the greetings of the authorities and the official celebration of the Interreg Cooperation Day, which was followed by the awarding of the winners of the social contest and the bestowal of a thought to the children.
The afternoon activities, which followed the lunch offered, which was also available in vegetarian and vegan options, were also a great success. Numerous participants flocked to the guided tours of the Vilenica Cave, the Karst vegetation interpretation centre and the Botanical Garden of Villa Mirasasso in Sežana. Two workshops for children and families were also held in the afternoon, one creative on the Karst theme and one on the work of the fire brigade and fire prevention on the Karst – KRAST-SAFE project.
Side activities were also held throughout the day, which included a fair of the projects participating in the Interreg Cooperation Day, an "Ivy Corner" where one could find out how to become an Interreg Volunteer Youth and work within the framework of European cooperation, a multimedia exhibition with videos of the projects financed by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme, and a test of the electric bicycles financed by the Programme 2014-2020 (MobiTour project) presented at the ENGREEN 2 project stand.
After the final thanks and greetings, the day ended with the departure of the participants.
