20 CO ADRIA Project and the Role of RECs at Regional and Cross-Border Level in the Energy Transition

You are kindly invited to the event “CROSS-BORDER ENERGY PERSPECTIVES AND LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES,” organized by the CO ADRIA - EGTC of the Northern Adriatic to promote climate neutrality by 2050: strategic initiatives for energy efficiency in the region.

The event will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. at the headquarters of the Urban municipality of Koper, Via Verdi 10, 6000 Koper.

The following speakers will participate in the event:

Boštjan Žlak (Urban municipality of Koper) will present, in his opening remarks, the CO-ADRIA project, the purpose of the event, and the importance of local community collaboration in the energy transition.
Janez Melink (GOLEA – Goriška Local Energy Agency) will explain the concept of an energy community, its importance for local energy production and management, as well as opportunities for citizen and local organization involvement.
Darjo Uršič (Enedar d.o.o.) will present advanced energy management systems that enable more efficient energy use, consumption optimization, and support for the energy transition.
Luka Mofardin (Focus, Association for Sustainable Development) will present a best-practice case study—the Zeleni Hrastnik Cooperative—which demonstrates how community-based models can contribute to sustainable energy production.
Suzana Vidmar Kovšca and Marta Stopar (GOLEA – Goriška Local Energy Agency) will present the H2READY project and the pilot activities in the Municipality of Koper, related to the development of hydrogen solutions and the energy transition.
Prof. Dr. Andrej Gubina (Institute for Innovation and Development at the University of Ljubljana) will speak about community energy and how collaboration among various stakeholders can accelerate the energy transition and contribute to the so-called “4D revolution” in the energy sector.
Dr. Liliana Vižintin (Koper Scientific Research Center, Mediterranean Institute for Environmental Studies) will illustrate how nature-based solutions and community-based approaches can help accelerate the transition from theory to practice on the path toward climate neutrality
