POSEIDONE's journey continues on 18 June with a new event in a unique and extraordinary location, where nature, history and culture have intertwined for centuries: the Ecomuseo dei Lazzaretti Veneziani.

The event will take place at the Lazzaretto Nuovo, one of the smaller islands in the Venetian lagoon, formerly used as a lazaretto for health checks on ships and now converted into a centre for research, environmental protection and cultural promotion.

The visit will be guided by experts from the Ekos Club Association, which has been managing the site and opening it to the public since 1977.

Located in the heart of the northern lagoon of Venice, among salt marshes, canals and mudflats, the Lazzaretto Nuovo is a unique example of integration between cultural enhancement and environmental protection. The island is also a valuable natural observatory, home to balanced lagoon environments where native plant species, migratory birds, invertebrates and biological communities characteristic of brackish ecosystems coexist. The salt marshes around the island are a vital habitat for bird reproduction and natural water filtration. The canals and wetlands are home to a delicate ecosystem, which is now monitored through scientific projects and citizen science activities promoted by the Ecomuseum.

On Wednesday 18 June 2025, the programme begins at 9.00 a.m., departing from the Treporti pier in the morning to reach the island by vaporetto. After the visit accompanied by the “custodians” of the ecomuseum, the programme also includes lunch at the Sant'Erasmo island restaurant. The return to Treporti is scheduled for 3.30 p.m.

The visit is limited to a certain number of participants. To register and for more information, please write to the organisational secretariat: eventi@alterevo.eu

If required, bilingualism in Italian and Slovenian will be provided.
